The type collection is the most valuable from a scientific perspective, as it brings together fossil species (plants and animals) that are new to science. In the field of paleobotany, the type specimens total 127 holotypes and paratypes, represented by impressions of leaves, algae, fruits, and fossil wood. For paleozoology, the type collection totals 153 new species of invertebrates and 14 new species of fossil vertebrates.
