The Collection Personalities of Babeș-Bolyai University

  • The volume Ioan Lupaș

The tenth volume of the collection Personalities of Babeș-Bolyai University is dedicated to historian and theologian Ioan Lupaș whose 140th birth anniversary was observed in the summer of 2020. Professor Lupaș belonged to the first generation of Romanian academics who taught in Cluj. He succeeded in uniting in his personality a scientist, a politician, and a priest gifted with grace and wisdom.

The 13 articles included in this volume depict an almost complete portrait of the life and work of Ioan Lupaș. He served with dedication both in the professorship and in the pulpit, adding his name to the intellectual and academic elite of contemporary Romania. His personal and professional destiny overlaps with the accomplishments and vicissitudes that Romania experienced in the twentieth century (the accomplishment of the Great Union, the economic crisis, the First and Second World Wars, the establishment of communism), thus illustrating a typical path for an intellectual of recent times.

The volume can be downloaded in full, free of charge, at:
