The Museum of University History

The Museum of University History was founded in April 2001 on the initiative of the Rector's Office of the Babeş-Bolyai University, for the purpose of adding value to the outstanding rich history of the Cluj university teaching system throughout the centuries, to the activity of the professors and students, who have frequented the various academic structures, but especially to the outstanding contributions of Transylvanian intellectuals to the heritage of world culture and science. The Museum of University History offers every student and especially every future student of the BBU a synthetic and transdisciplinary perspective on the tradition and the present of the Cluj university life, in the multicultural context of Transylvania. It deserves to be visited by all those, who are spending or have spent their student years in Cluj.

The Museum of Mineralogy

The Museum of Mineralogy of the Babeş-Bolyai University is the place in which visitors can admire one of the most various and representative collection of this kind in the country. Crystals, precious metals, ornamental gemstones, meteorites… Words you do not encounter every day, but that bring you suddenly into a different world – mysterious and fascinating at the same time! Between imaginary world and reality there is just one step: the matter structured in a mineral with shapes, colors, and brilliance. Hundreds, thousands of minerals you can admire now, after they have suffered transformations deep inside the Earth for millions of years!

The Botanical Museum

By means of its 6,910 exhibits, the Botanical Museum offers its visitors the opportunity to complete their knowledge about the richness, evolution, and importance of the vegetal world. It is hosted on the first floor of the Botanical Institute.

The Museum's permanent exhibition consists of local and exotic fauna as well. The Museum holds species belonging to different animal groups, starting with the most simple ones (sponges and jellyfish) to the more complex ones (birds and mammals). The exhibits are displayed in a taxonomic way (according to the classification of the living world) in the three halls of the Museum. The Zoological Museum is hosted on the first floor of the building of the Biology Faculty.
