The Open Air Collection is situated in the interior court of the Babeş-Bolyai University, and it consists of big samples of eruptive, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, and even giant fossils (rudists). There are exposed large blocks, polished plaques (Cretaceous fossil-bearing chalk used for constructions) and basalt columns (basalt from Racoş, Perşani Mountains), the stalagmite formation of the Dragon-Onceasa Cave (West Carpathians), Feleac concretions (Cluj), spectacular for their large dimensions and diverse morphology.
