Paleontology-Stratigraphy Museum / Collection of Types

The over 200 fossil species (plants and animals) are represented by Mesozoic gastropods (nerineae) and cephalopods (ammonites) that have lived 200 million years ago, or by the tertiary and quaternary fauna (echinidae, briozoars) that were described for science for the first time on samples from the Transylvanian Basin. The Collection of Types also includes the oldest rhinocerid known today (Prohyracodon orientale), discovered by Prof. A. Koch in 1897, in the Eocene deposits of Rădaia.
