The majority of samples belong to the deposit of Roşia Montană (Alba county), but also to other traditional mining regions of the "gold-bearing tetragon" of the West Carpathians (Bucium-Baia de Arieş, Brad-Săcărâmb, Zlatna-Stănija, etc.) or of the Baia Mare region (Cavnic). One can also see lamellae of alluvial gold obtained after washing gold-bearing sand.
Famous gold-bearing regions of the entire world are also represented in this collection: the Ural Mountains (crystals of up to 2 mm from Neviansk) and Siberia (Russia), Cornwall (United Kingdom), California (USA), Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela.
