The native gold collection is the third-largest and most diverse in Romania. It comprises approximately 500 samples of free gold from Romania (mainly from the deposits at Roșia Montană, Bucium-Baia de Arieș, Brad-Săcărâmb, Zlatna-Stănija, the Baia Mare-Cavnic area, or alluvial gold flakes from Pianu, Alba County) and from abroad (Ural Mountains, Siberia, and California).
