The gem collection comprises two extensive collections:
- The Romanian gem collection is the most comprehensive and diverse in the country, comprising approximately 3,500 fine stones, most of which have undergone processing. It consists of minerals and rocks from over 90 occurrences in the country, which can be used to make jewelry or decorative objects. Quartz and opal varieties predominate, but other minerals and even common rocks, less commonly used for gemological purposes, are also present.
- The collection of gems from around the world comprises over 230 precious, semi-precious, and decorative stones, most of which are processed (such as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, garnets, various types of quartz, opals, and turquoise) and partially displayed in the original 19th-century showcase.
